FAQ 3

Sumi is an AI manga translator that helps readers access manga in their own language, with support across web, Chrome, iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It looks useful for people trying to read titles that have not been officially translated yet, but verify language coverage and data-handling details before relying on it.

Quick Verdict

Sumi is an AI manga translator focused on reading manga, manhwa, and webtoons in a user's language. The website describes a free-to-start product that works as both an online translator and a Chrome extension, which makes it relevant for readers who want quick access without setup friction.

The main appeal is practical: it translates page content while preserving the layout, and it also handles whole chapters on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Silicon devices. The website does not clearly state how translation quality is reviewed or whether uploads are stored or deleted, so those are worth checking on the official website.

Who this is for

Best fit: readers who want to follow manga that has not been translated into their language yet, or who want a faster way to read manga in a language they understand. It may also suit people who want to try a translator before creating an account.

Verify the limits before committing: the website does not clearly state whether translation quality is human-reviewed, whether uploads are retained, or whether the free tier has restrictions beyond page counts. Support for whole chapters is described for specific Apple devices, so platform coverage should be checked if you are not on those devices.
